The United States has become increasingly reliable on Private Military Contractors (PMC's). While the Department of Defense (DoD) has previously used contractors on continents around the world; they are relying heavily on PMC's in Iraq and Afghanistan. Apart from the United States, many foreign governments employ security contractors to support stabilization and reconstruction efforts. Many analysts and DoD officials believe that contractors offer support and assistance in places where help is scarce. We will focus on the role of PMC's during the war in the Middle East, specifically how the United States military has relied on the use of contractors for support and rescue efforts.
