Criminal Justice

This presentation explains the exceptions to the Mapp Exclusionary Rule which include the Independent Source Rule, the Rule of Inevitable Discovery, the Good Faith Exception, and the Doctrine of Attenuation. The Mapp Exclusionary Rule states that evidence that has been illegally seized by the state or federal government can be removed from prosecution in a criminal trial. Illegally seizing evidence performed by an officer is a violation of the Fourth Amendment. The presentation will include a brief introduction to the Mapp Exclusionary Rule, and elaborate on the exceptions to the Rule.
