by Kristen Fischer, Maegan Hewett, and Kathryn Swanzey

Developed under the guidance of:

The Rift Valley region of East Africa is characterized by limited healthcare accessibility. Previous study abroad trips to Tanzania have indicated a specific need for the improvement of maternal and infant health. Literary research revealed that there was an abundance of data available on several key issues including: antenatal care, infant health, and quality of available healthcare facilities. Information was gathered and assimilated to better understand the needs that must be met and how East African maternal and infant health might be addressed by future study abroad courses in Tanzania.
