Keynote & Awards Ceremony

Dr. Laura Lunsford

Please join us for what will certainly be an engaging keynote address on Wednesday March 27, 2024 at 5:15pm in the Oscar N. Harris Student Union Ballroom.

The keynote speaker for the 14th Annual Academic Symposium is Dr. Laura Lunsford, an expert in mentoring and leadership. She is an evaluator with the National Science Foundation and was previously an assistant dean and a tenured professor in psychology at Campbell University. She was a 2022 U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Germany where she studied mentoring in an online, global talent mentoring program for STEM high school students. She has written over 50 peer-reviewed articles, case studies, and chapters on leadership and mentoring, including the definitive guide for mentoring programs The Mentor's Guide: Five steps to build a successful mentor program, now in its second edition. She co-edited the Sage Handbook of Mentoring and received the International Mentoring Association's Hope dissertation award.

Lunsford's work speaks to a core value of the Academic Symposium: promoting student involvement in research through mentoring relationships with faculty members.
