Keynote & Awards Ceremony
The keynote speaker for the 13th Annual Academic Symposium is Dr. Terry “Bucky” Gates, Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at NCSU as well as Postdoctoral Scholar and paleontologist at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. In addition to being one of the world's foremost experts on duckbilled dinosaurs, Dr. Gates is also a champion of Citizen Science, a movement to increase public participation in scientific research with the goal of furthering scientific knowledge. Citizen Science is a particularly apt topic for the Symposium since it aligns with the event’s mission to promote students' involvement in research.
Dr. Gates views the incorporation of Citizen Science into his classes as a form of equitable pedagogy, a practice that is congruent with the library's newest initiative on campus: a Teaching Resource Center that fosters conversations about teaching and learning.
Please join us for what will certainly be an engaging keynote address on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at 5:15pm in the Oscar N. Harris Student Union Ballroom.
