Title: Osteonecrosis of the Jaw in a Patient Post Dental Extraction With Over a Decade of Bisphosphonate Use: A Case Report
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Catherine Lewis Wente , College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences

Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) is characterized by increasingly necrotic bone stemming from a variety of sources. One of the most common drug-related associations is the anti-resorptive class of drugs, bisphosphonates. This case report details a 75-year-old woman who began therapy with alendronate once weekly and continued for ten years continuously until switching to ibandronate once monthly for an additional four years. Upon having a dental extraction, the patient developed osteonecrosis of the jaw and was eventually admitted to the hospital.
