Title: Management of a Pedunculated Adenomatous Colonic Polyp
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Bonnie Brenseke and Dr. Bruce Newton , School of Osteopathic Medicine

Colon cancer is a major cause of death in the United States. It can arise from precursor adenomatous polyps, therefore proper management and treatment is imperative. During cadaveric dissection of an 88-year-old black female, a large (>20 mm) polyp was found in the distal sigmoid colon. Microscopically, the polyp was comprised of increased numbers of mucosal glands and had a focal area of anaplasia with increased mitotic activity. A diagnosis of a pedunculated tubular adenoma with focal stage 0 (carcinoma in situ) was made. Here we present a case of colonic polyp with discussion on management based on size.
