Title: Determination of Viscosity of Sucrose Syrups
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Antoine Al-Achi , College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences
This experiment aimed to develop a quick method for estimating sucrose concentration in syrups. Syrups of different concentrations of sucrose were prepared. Four batches of granules were made and combined. Pipette tips were filled with granules and syrups were passed through the granules bed. The time needed for complete elution of the solution from the column was recorded. Syrup viscosity was evaluated by a viscometer. Relationships between sucrose concentration vs. time and viscosity vs. time were developed. This method was a crude technique for determining sucrose concentration in unknown syrup samples
