Title: A Cadaveric Study of Corpora Amylacea in an Individual with Possible Adult Polyglucosan Body Disease
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Bonnie Brenseke and Dr. Terence Mitchell , School of Osteopathic Medicine

Corpora amylacea (CA) are found in the brain and spinal cord during the normal aging process, and high concentrations have also been associated with neurodegenerative diseases. This poster discusses the relationship of CA with Adult Polyglucosan Body Disease (APBD), a neurodegenerative disorder associated with loss of motor and sensory function. The histological similarities between cross sections of a spinal cord taken from the cadaver of an 88-year-old African American male were compared to those seen in patients with APBD. This poster will discuss the importance of considering ABPD as a differential diagnosis in patients with presumed neurodegenerative disease.
