Title: Development of a Small-scale Radiative Heat Transfer Experiment and Model for Classroom Use
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Jacqueline Gartner , School of Engineering
This project aims to make a low-cost heat transfer demonstration device to better illustrate the phenomena of conduction, convection, and radiation. We will employ an existing design and model, altering it for use in the Campbell engineering classroom and transitioning the model of from Excel to Matlab. We will compare the model output values and empirical results to verify the model. We will develop a lab procedure for instructor and student use. The experiment can be changed by replacing the shield and internal absorptive material to mimic various scenarios in the model and provide a wide scope of results.
