Title: Building Trust in Interpretation in Health Care Domains
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Ann Ortiz , Foreign Language
The majority of bilingual children become interpreters for their relatives at a young age. Over the years, fluency is gained, and the ability is natural. Through personal experience, it all changes in a healthcare domain. In settings, such as clinics, hospitals, and medical mission clinics there is one shared link. The link is the interpreter. This is where the need for medical services creates a social trust between the patient, and the interpreter. These are some of my personal observations/experiences made through consecutive interpreting in all three different types of healthcare domains.
