Title: Working Memory and Gender
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Jutta Street , Psychology

Working memory is the focus of many studies as it is linked to many different cognitive abilities. Despite this, there are many shortcomings in the basic understanding of working memory. One, in particular, is associated with a possible gender difference in the dominant type of working memory. This study examined possible gender differences in the utilization of different facets of working memory. Results of this study indicate that males have a preference for visuospatial working memory tasks as opposed to the phonological loop. However, as this was only a pilot study, there is a need for further research.
