Title: Effect of Myo-inositol on the shelf stability of Bovine Serum Albumin upon freeze drying
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Mali Gupta , Pharmaceutical Sciences

Variable physical states and structural similarity with mannitol arise interest in crystallization potential of myo-inositol. Myo-inositol is expected to improve the storage stability of protein through sufficient direct molecular interaction with Bovine Serum Albumin. Thermal properties and crystallization profile of the lyophilized product will be studied through Differential Scanning Calorimeter and powder X-ray diffraction studies respectively. Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy study should elucidate the protein conformation. Aggregation of biological compounds deteriorates the stability of protein through the formation of high molecular weight species. Size exclusion chromatography will be used to separate the high molecular weight species and quantify it at predetermined intervals on storage to study its stability. The focus is anticipated to observe no growth in protein aggregation and/or inflation in high molecular weight species through the shelf life of the product.
