Title: Formulation of Itraconazole Emulgel as a Transungual Drug Delivery System
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Mali Gupta , Pharmaceutical Sciences
The main objective of the experiment is to study the drug uptake of the Itraconazole emulgel by the human nails within 24 hrs. The emulgel is prepared by mixing oil: surfactant: cosurfactant: water with the incorporation of 1% w/w Itraconazole using the mechanical homogenizer followed by the addition of the gelling agent and nail penetration enhancers. The evaluation parameters used are the analysis of the globule size, emulsion type, viscosity, drug content, nail penetration and stability studies. Statistical analysis technique used are Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Design of Experiments (DoE).
