Title: Diffusion and Permeability Studies of Calcium Channel Blockers Using Allium cepa as Natural Membrane
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Antoine Al-Achi , Pharmaceutical Sciences

In this study, Allium cepa membrane is used as a natural semipermeable membrane, to prove that it shows similar permeability values to that obtained using Caco-2 cell line, for Calcium Channel Blockers like Amlodipine besylate and Diltiazem hydrochloride. Franz cell apparatus is used to test the permeability of a semisolid colloidal dispersion for individual drugs and the sample analysis is done using a HPLC method. Permeability coefficient is calculated using First order model. Mathematical models are used to study the drug release properties. Stability of drugs, uniformity of membrane and its integrity are also one of the parameters that will be studied.
