Title: A Hungry Heart: Analyzing the Will to Live in Tennyson's "Ulysses"
Developed under the guidance of Prof. Shirley Jefferds , English

In Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem, “Ulysses,” the theme of mankind’s will to live is most heavily focused on. It focuses on Trojan War hero, Ulysses, and his struggle to return to a simple life once returned home from war. Rather than waste away with boredom, he sets sail on one final voyage to live out his last days in the most epic way possible. This poem can serve as an example for all humanity as a beacon of hope and a reminder that we must strive always to fight and live out our lives until the very end.
