Title: Fatty Infiltration of Paravertebral Muscles After Spinal Surgery
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Bonnie Brenseke , Osteopathic Medicine
Our research revisits the causes of back pain following spinal fusion surgery. Approximately 10-40% of patients are diagnosed with failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS) following surgical intervention for back pain. Current research provides a myriad of causes of FBSS. Our study supports the theory that fatty infiltration of paraspinal muscles plays a significant role in the development of FBSS.
