Title: Meningioma in a Bicycle Motocross Athlete
Developed under the guidance of Dr. Sarah Christie , Exercise Science
A 26-year-old male professional Bicycle Motocross (BMX) rider was found to have an 8-millimeter meningioma on the left temporal lobe of the brain, impinging the sagittal sinus, ultimately infecting the brain tissue. The tumor was linked to years of repetitive head trauma related to BMX. A craniotomy followed by Elekta’s Gamma Knife® Radiation removed the tumor growth.
