Electrohydrodynamic spraying (EHDS) technique is the process of atomization of the liquid that is coming out of the capillary by applying high voltage using electrical forces. Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic adrenocorticosteroid used mainly as anti inflammatory agent and anti fungal agent. In the current project, EHDS is used to produce triamcinolone acetonide nanoparticles of size less than 100 nm. Triamcinolone acetonide is dissolved in a solvent which has high conductivity and low boiling point and flash point and sprayed using EHDS apparatus onto a grounded electrode at a low flow rate and low concentrations. The solvent is evaporated due to high voltage. The nanoparticles obtained are dispersed in a dispersion medium like water and analyzed for drug content and particle size using HPLC and Malvern zeta sizer. The presence of residual solvents is checked using gas chromatography. The nanoparticles are also checked for stability and agglomeration.
