Matthew's Allusion to Jeremiah in 10:5-15

I found an allusion to an Old Testament passage that, to my knowledge, no one else has found. I argue that in Matthew 10:5-15, the evangelist constructs his polemic against the Jewish religious leadership using allusions to Jeremiah and Lamentations. In particular, I show that Matthew uses key phrases and themes in 10:5-15 from Jeremiah 50:6 and Lamentations 4:6 for two reasons: 1) to respond to the failed religious leadership of Israel, and 2) to accentuate the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple as a result of the rejection of the twelve and their words by the people of Israel.
